Quinton Carter got Soul

North Las Vegas native Quinton Carter, current OU safety, is giving back to his home town by bringing in SOUL: Serving Others through Unity and Leadership. Carter, current second-team All-Big 12 Conference Safety and Cheyenne High School graduate, put together the non-profit organization to give young athletes a chance to take part in free football camps, as well as helping in-need parents and mentoring at-risk kids..

The organization is based in Norman, OK, but Carter’s family in Southern Nevada helped him organize his last camp Memorial Day weekend at Ed Fountain Park in West Las Vegas, where about 200 kids showed up to learn some football techniques and life skills.

Carter’s dedication to the community and young athletes in itself is admirable, but considering that he is still in college with the pressure of football and school makes it that much more respectable. The sociology major’s non-profit success is due to the time and dedication he puts in, without neglecting his personal and professional obligations.

When asked why he gives up so much of himself, as per NewsOK.com, Carter replied "I feel this is something I have to do, something I'm supposed to do."

ARU is looking forward to Quinton Carter’s next camp, and will be on the lookout for any updates.
